I am currently a senior research leader in Deloitte’s Center for Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT Center). The TMT Center develops thought leadership that explores emerging industry and technology issues and trends to inform and inspire executives, so they can better anticipate and respond to change. The TMT Center uses original research – surveys, interviews, and data analysis – to deliver its insights and recommendations.As a senior research leader, I research, write, and present on a wide variety of topics across the technology, media & entertainment, telecom and sports industries. I have covered artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, satellite broadband, sports tech and fan behavior, consumer media and entertainment behavior, and technology regulation.Previously, I also served as Chief of Staff for the TMT Cener, supporting the Executive Director. I was responsible for managing the TMT Center's overall operations including its research and publication pipeline, budget, measuring overall impact, and vendor and contractor management.

The IBM Institute for Business Value, as part of IBM Services, creates and publishes fact-based strategic insights on critical public and private sector issues in order to empower business leaders. I was the lead researcher, analyst and consultant for thought leadership around cybersecurity and the CIO role. I was responsible for developing thought provoking and practical assets on those topics - building research instruments, analyzing data, conducting interviews, writing studies, guiding deployment and presenting material publicly. I covered topics including CIO and CISO best practices, cybersecurity workforce and education issues, privacy and security regulations and other emerging technical and business topics for cybersecurity.

I managed the Thought Leadership team in the IBM Center for Applied Insights. The Center armed IBM’s clients and other market influencers with pragmatic business and technology guidance. We created fact-based thought leadership to condition the market, influence the beliefs of IBM’s constituents, and provoke action. As manager, I was responsible for developing and executing a research agenda and project portfolio for the worldwide team. This included working with all areas of the business to identify topics of strategic importance to IBM. I consulted with marketing, communications, and strategy teams to develop research and deploy a variety of content marketing assets (e.g., papers, videos, infographics, etc.).I guided how the team developed primary research instruments, analyzed primary and secondary research, and shaped the research and analysis into compelling storylines.Areas of my personal research focus included cybersecurity, cloud computing, cognitive computing, and analytics.

I expanded the research agenda of the Center through both project management responsibilities and the development of evidence-based thought leadership for internal and external audiences. Led, developed, and authored a number of projects on cybersecurity including, "Cybersecurity Education for the Next Generation", the "2012 and 2013 IBM Chief Information Security Officer Assessments", and an eight article series on "Security Essentials for CIOs". The material was referenced by the press in over thirty external publications.Additional thought leadership development has included an op-ad for the "ROI for Smart" program as part of IBM's Smarter Planet series, an article for C-suites on the business use of foresight, a paper on the evolution of the CFO, an interactive tool for healthcare providers, and papers on the enterprise adoption of platform as a service (PaaS) and enterprise social tools.

Served as an analyst with the U.S. Navy’s laboratory in charge of research and development for the nation’s undersea fleet. As Future Concepts leader, provided a comprehensive analysis foundation to support the conceptualization of emerging undersea warfare technological and operational directions. Developed and generated environmental scanning products, periodic articles on trends and emerging issues, and future-focused presentations. Served as the task leader for developing Homeland Security and Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection analysis initiatives and supported several projects dealing with the integration of Special Operations Forces onto submarines.
