iOS Dev Going Solo-preneur Together... In 2017 I started developing on the iOS platform and enjoy seeing Apps work smoothly on the iPhone. I've developed deep feelings about software and how it can be used for good rather than abused for evil. I also enjoy learning and sharing, teaching and training, practicing and growing (see my musing on The Swift Dojo). David is an Agile Transition Guide for organizations wishing to explore and discover their unique path to Lean/Agile software development. Previously a software engineer with 20+ years developing software solutions within a variety of industries. David uses his experience in group dynamics, systems thinking and the power of the Agile philosophy to unleash a team’s full potential. He enjoys mentoring individuals and coaching teams. David believes in empowering the team with self-organization, setting them on the path to achieve the team's purpose and providing them the proper intrinsic motivation to move the team along the productivity curve toward ultra performance. David has experience teaching Scrum and XP practices to multiple groups that evolved into Agile teams delivering quality software and value to customers.-- Specialties: Agile management of development teams-- Software engineering practices, eXtreme Programming (XP)-- Coaching and instruction of technical practices -- Curriculum development / instructional design -- Certified Java developer -- Certified Scrum Master -- Certified Scrum Practitioner -- Certified Collaboration Architect -- Certified lover of weird people

Ios Dev - Collaboration Architect - Agile Transition GuideLifeworksiq Mar 2017 - PresentBringing the power of Transparent Process Mapping (visual thinking tools) to a whiteboard and meeting space near you. I have a sharpie - will travel. As a Solo-preneur that plays well with others I've developed iOS Apps for other Agile Coaches (InspireMe! Cards in the App Store) and I'm always working on several projects... sometimes too many at once. I code and blog on The Swift Dojo, Live Coding with the crew at TDD.Academy and enjoy the Apple EcoSystem since before the first iPhone.I'm a free lance Agile Journey-man, I keep traveling to find new ideas and spread them around in my wake. If you are interested in new ideas, want to reboot a team, need to talk with your customers to get feedback on product ideation, have a cat stuck in a tree, want to train your CxO and rehabilitate your organization - well I love to do this stuff... call me - maybe.

My first true exposure to real "big data" environments and tools. They help me see their meaning behind "data ain't software when it comes time to test it." Agile Transition Guide - Purveyor Of BearclawsUsaa Feb 2016 - Jun 2017San Antonio, Texas, UsIf you can describe the role - you can not be the role... Stop trying and do. - Yoda. [right I made it up... but, did you believe Yoda was a real character?]I was enticed to join this group of technicians from USAA's home office in San Antonio that had relocated a seed group of developers, starting a Plano campus. A bold move for the company - should be FUN. The first interview day a VP introduced me to their cultural art gallery. One of the framed images was an elephant with "Ignore Me" painted on it's side. OK - I've seen enough - I'm in.I didn't want the traditional "Agile Coaching" role -- although the coaches I knew and met were a huge draw. To work with awesome people is one of my desires. I also desired to work with the developers, to actually experience the changes that introducing people to the Scrum framework, XP practices, and Agile mindset can empower in the workforce. As with all large organizations, there was the best of times and the worst of times. USAA's old style culture is a nice thing... well until it stifles what new innovations they are attempting with a satellite techie office. The values are plastered on the walls, sometimes you can see the congruent actions - sometime you are left gobsmacked. In the months I was there - I had one successful agile adoption by a team. I know this because after the company broke up the team, members came up to me to say how much they had learned and that they were now teaching/mentoring their new team members (and it sounded weirdly like my words coming out of their mouths). That was awesome. But really just a few gems in an otherwise salted pile of dirt. -
Scrum MasterGamestop Mar 2015 - Sep 2015Grapevine, Texas, UsHave Sharpies, will work with teams to achieve greatness in Scrum process execution regardless of impediments. Bringing the FUN, to dysfunctional team meetings. Worked with several teams as they journeyed along the agile maturity path. Bringing new developers to an understand of the Agile mindset and seeing it flourish is a great joy for me. GameStop was ripe for the developer Agile mindset flowering moment. It was FUN! Game-ON! -

Scrum Master for TCS IT Selling Systems group, facilitated 3 Scrum teams. Group responsibilities: development and maintenance of Web site, store systems, point of sale systems. Coached new groups (data warehousing, reporting, inventory systems) in adopting Agile/Lean practices. Coached one-on-one with team members, instructed courses, organizational continuous improvement sessions, advised on current best practices in software development, servant leader for teams. [Full Disclosure: I bought TCS stock, because I saw the engaged workforce that lived their mission statement.] -
