I support technical and functional solutions and services for the Colleges, Schools, and Professional Services departments. I deliver against the main IT strategy, local IT service needs, and the broader University strategy. I develop beneficial working relationships through the University and have the responsibility (and accountability) for actions and decisions taken by myself and my team members. Areas of my management include:• Desktop and laptop computing (Windows PCs, Apple Macs, Linux terminals and associated software).• Mobile computing (Android and iOS tablets and smart phones).• IT infrastructure (networks and telephony).• Acquire and install specialist equipment used for teaching and/or research.• Taking full responsibility for the budgeting, estimating, planning and objective setting for the work of the team. • Producing reports for senior management.• Managing the resilience within the team for specialist, locally specific or bespoke services through sharing knowledge, documenting systems, and cross training.• I am responsible for team development, pastoral care, and welfare of the staff including objective setting, appraisal, performance review and training.• Ensure the team operate within appropriate risk assessments and operating procedures.• Managing the maintenance of IT assets inventories. • Supporting stakeholders with defining IT budgets that ensure all software in use is appropriately licensed and asset replacement cycles are appropriate.• Conducting investigations on system performance and system usage, making proposals for improvement.• Planning, scheduling and supervising all maintenance and installation work.• Influencing the design and development of new and changed systems and services to optimise operational efficiency.• Influencing internal policy formation and business planning with internal and external customers/suppliers/partners.• Maintaining a risk management programmes.
