Upon establishing his ability to handle technical sales and marketing positions with Sterling Drug Corporation and then with International Telephone and Telegraph, Markgraf entered the surface energy arena by joining Enercon Industries Corporation and soon thereafter became a highly active member of TAPPI. Markgraf has been especially proficient climbing the dual ladders of professional growth both at Enercon and within the TAPPI organization. At Enercon, Markgraf moved from sales manager to marketing manager and then to vice president before assuming his current position. In addition, his expertise in surface energy technology allows him to serve as president of FlouroTec, Inc., a company providing equipment for the chemical treatment of three-dimensional plastic components. A TAPPI member since 1982, Markgraf has been active in the Polymers, Laminations and Coatings Division. He has served as Division Chairman, Film Extrusion Committee Chairman, and Printing Committee Chairman. Markgraf formerly served the division as Extrusion Coating Committee Chairman and International Planning Subcommittee Chairman. He is also a member of the Film Extrusion and Midwest Packaging and Converting Committees. In recognition of his contributions, the PLC Division presented Markgraf with the 1994 Division Leadership and Service Award and Andreas G. Ahlbrandt Prize. Markgraf served on the Board of Directors Marketing Committee and currently serves on the Board of Directors International Committee. Markgraf has presented and published twelve technical papers and authored the “Surface Treatment” chapter of the Film Extrusion Manual and the chapter entitled “Corona Treatment: Enhanced Adhesion for Extrusion Coating” in the Extrusion Coating of Paper and Paperboard - Equipment and Materials Manual. He is a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers and a charter member of the Converting Equipment Machinery Association.Specialties: Sales and marketing management.
