I worked with a team of developers to develop features for an in-house software package built in C# with a SQL Server backend. We developed applications using agile methodologies, including Test-Driven Development (TDD). I also researched how we could make better use of the technology we were currently using, keeping up with information produced by industry experts.I also handled much of the development in the data layer, creating stored procedures, views and other database objects in SQL Server; then wiring them to the application using ADO.NET Entity Framework.

As a Senior Application Developer, I led a team of Junior Developers. Since they were transitioning from hardware maintenance to software development, it was my responsibility to teach them programming constructs and principles and enable them to contribute to the smooth running of our in-house software platform. A highlight of those early days was a lesson plan called "Programming for Cage-fighters." It was an interesting way to teach about conditional statements and loops. The Jr. Developers were good students and were able to handle their responsibilities well.I also handled the role of a business analyst. I met with principal stakeholders from different organizational groups, gathered requirements from them, and developed solutions and implementation plans to meet those requirements. In that role, I collaborated with Senior VPs, Program Managers, and Front-line staff. They all had different levels of technical proficiency, but they all had something valuable to contribute. They made it easy for me to document their business processes and develop solutions to meet their needs.

As the Application Developer, I provided strategic solutions to high value business problems, then did the work to execute the solution. For example, the billing process, which creates a file for the state, took 7 days to complete. Funds were lost because it was too time-consuming to recreate the file and reconcile our records with the state's. I outlined and developed a solution that reduced the time to process our monthly billing from 7 days to 1 hour! This allowed us to recoup funds that were lost due to discrepancies and data entry errors.

As online producer, I handled daily production for TVGuide.com, regularly communicating with the Design and Editorial teams. I served as the project manager for the Star Wars Episode III mini-site that we launched in 2005. The Design and Editorial teams did an excellent job with the articles and the layout, and I created and coded a personality quiz entitled "What Kind of Jedi Are You?" using JavaScript and ASP.My other responsibilities involved developing pages and features using HTML, ASP and Flash.

As a Web Developer, I collaborated with a graphic designer to develop professional websites for non-profit organizations, including custom site features created using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and Flash.
