He quickly proved that he should be in charge of teams, and that he understood systems design, and he moved up over time into leading our fledgling SRE group. Sage is in the class of people who can keep complex models in their head for multi-server, multi-app, multi-database, multi-vendor models of systems, quickly able to triage product issues across numerous service boundaries, and is able to communicate with executive leadership concisely as well as at a technical level with the engineers to explain what needs to happen to resolve their issues. He is knowledgeable about so many products, often through a lot of hands-on work, that I can't reliably create a full list of all the technology products and platforms he can triage and help with. As a product owner over a large portion of the Alkami SRE internal product offerings, Sage also demonstrated that wide scope and range of knowledge and teaching ability and was able to help ensure we have a cohesive product vision across all the SRE teams to deliver as much uptime as possible to our clients as Alkami has been able to offer. Under his leadership we have steadily closed a gap to bring our deployment windows to zero-downtime, from an originally as high as seven hours downtime window. Sage has been instrumental in a large number of organizational efforts at Alkami, and I will miss my mentor and friend in our day-to-day roles.
