2018-2019 Hospital Medicine Clinical Scholar2019-2020 Faculty Scholar in Health EquityResearch interests include leveraging qualitative methods to understand the structural and individual factors that shape our information environments and developing techniques to counter misinformation in digital communities drawing on motivational interviewing. Additional research and teaching interests include contested illnesses, placebo studies, implicit bias, burnout, doctor-patient communication, and refugee health in the Middle East.

Post-doctoral research in Biomedical Informatics examining gaps in data collection in non-traditional surveillance, expanded HealthMap's surveillance in Arabic and explored new data to support real-time infectious disease tracking. I researched socioeconomic vulnerability to infectious diseases among immigrants and refugees living in the US as well as designed content for the BioMosaic iPad application for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
