I was first chartered to deliver a World class infrastructure to host our primary portal KP.org. Part of my continuous role was the continued evolution of the Web infrastructure including: 3 generations for KP.org, the National Shared Infrastructure, and the Clinical Web Infrastructure. In 2000, my team and I were responsible for the deployment of more than 150 Web applications within Kaiser Permanente. I started the WDG Application Engineering team as the demand for Web development began to peak. The objective for the team was to provide Web engineers for all Web projects within KP. The Web engineers would lead the design of these projects, and ensure their compliance to standards and practices. The team was responsible for dozens of successful development and deployment projects. The engineering team was also responsible for drafting the Web development best practices, development standards, and common code frameworks applied to all Web based projects.Technology notes: Multi-tier Unix architectures: Load balancer (Network Dispatcher), HTTP (IBM Apache), Application Server (WAS), DB (Oracle, UDB, SQL Server).
