About David Valerio

I'm a Catholic oceanographer working to regenerate the natural world. I blend expertise in carbon markets and Earth system science with customer-facing experience to help organizations implement impactful nature-based solutions. My background in stakeholder engagement and applied research allows me to translate client needs into technical execution.I currently work on policy for Renoster, a carbon credit due-diligence firm focused on de-risking forest carbon investments, and host Discern Earth, the podcast that seeks to understand why nature and climate professionals do what they do. I previously managed client engagements for Validere, an oil & gas emissions MRV company, and led research for BCarbon, a carbon credit registry and research hub focused on nature-based carbon removals.I received a MS in Oceanography from Rice University, a BS in Geology from Texas A&M University, and am currently working on a MA in Theology from the Byzantine Catholic Seminary of Saints Cyril and Methodius.
