Responsible for planning, directing, consulting and controlling fire safety/regulatory compliance, property fire risk control and loss prevention activities for North America and South America.

• The development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures and standards that can be applied universally for fire and life safety programs.• Lead, advise, and provide technical support to Design Delivery project managers during design and construction including but not limited to the review of project designs and facilities for code compliance and insurance carrier recommendations.• Establishes and directs the design criteria for all aspects capital project new installations and alterations of fire protection and life safety systems for owned and leased properties as requested for The Walt Disney Company.• Develop strategies for organizational compliance with federal and local government mandates and regulatory requirements.• Prepare comprehensive budgets for all functions of fire and life safety, fire prevention and risk management capital projects and operational planning.• Project management of Capital Projects as they relate to fire protection and life safety systems being installed throughout The Walt Disney Company.• Partner with Facilities Service and Support to oversee and/or implement contracts relating to the maintenance of the fire and life safety programs and negotiating cost effective engineering installations with vendors and other outsourced services.• Manage the development and maintenance of fire and life safety information databases to support record keeping (i.e. inspection, testing and maintenance reports), reporting and audit requirements.

• Led, advised, and provided technical support to project managers during design and construction.• Evaluated construction/renovation projects and determine if any compensatory fire and safety measures might be required for the project.• Reviewed drawings and phasing plans with project teams to assess fire and life safety discrepancies and implement interim life safety measures as needed.• Monitored construction fire and safety program integrity and maximize project efficiency while providing formal recommendations for Interim Life Safety Measures and other protective measures. • Documented/Maintained/Reported project-related safety and compliance activities. • Maintained project-related safety documents in continuous readiness state. • Developed periodic summary reports in written for various audiences such as Life Safety Sub Committee, Hospital Leadership, etc.• Conducted building assessments and field verifications of existing conditions influencing Building Code and Life Safety Code compliance.• Developed strategies for organizational compliance with federal and local government mandates and regulatory requirements (NYC DOB, FDNY, NFPA, CMS, DOH, The Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.)• Coached/Mentored Fire Safety personnel on building, fire, safety, health and environmental standards as apply to health care. • Facilitated approvals for permits and compliance documents for any above ceiling work including but not limited to all penetrations, inspections and maintenance activities.

Broad range of assignments on a diverse array of projects located across the globe in such areas as fire protection systems, fire strategies, code analysis, hazardous materials storage and utilization, life safety assessments and alternative means and methods analysis using performance-based design. Within each of these unique experiences I have had the opportunity to work with a myriad of different clients, codes and standards necessary to develop comprehensive assessments and strategies that could be implemented practically both globally and locally. Select responsibilities included:• Working with project teams to identify the design goals of the project as they relate to fire and life safety. • Analyzing fire protection system designs/drawings to determine whether or not the designs comply with the applicable codes and standards, manufacturers’ design/installation guidelines, as well as the design vision of the project.• Coordination of work performed by other disciplines to determine if the design is compliant with applicable codes and standards for fire and life safety and consistent with acceptable engineering practice and the client’s standard of care.• Developing comprehensive specifications for fire protection and life safety systems. • Performed site surveys and evaluations of the fire protection and life safety systems of a building or facility. • Conducted peer reviews of designs undertaken by others to evaluate that the design is consistent with acceptable engineering practice and standard of care. • Reviewing drawings and installations of fire protection and life safety systems for several existing facilities for the purpose of evaluating the design function and code compliance.• Worked on behalf of the project’s developer/owner to negotiate approval of a performance-based design plan with the Authority Having Jurisdiction on major university, assembly, business, and industrial projects.

Gained invaluable experience assisting officials and senior industry representatives during code development sessions, performing research and analyzing technical data for code compliance and modifications and actively participating in code committee reviews.
