About David Barsi
After graduating in Agriculture I trained at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Pisa in the field of Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry and Materials Sciences. In the fields of study developed at first at the University and then at the Institute of Chemical-Physical Processes of the CNR (UOS Pisa) I have dealt with various issues concerning the improvement of the environmental impacts of the agricultural and industrial sector. During the Master's thesis I addressed the issue of reducing the environmental impact in the marine sector of antifouling paints by proposing a non-toxic system with physical action that could prevent the onset of marine microflora on the submerged portion of ships. As part of my PhD at the CNR, I dealt with issues of Circular Economy applied to the enhancement of agro-industrial waste and the preservation industry as well as to the development of smart and multi-responsive bio-based polymers. Having joined the LMPE team, I became a referent for the Circular Economy and Sustainability, participating in meetings on a National and Local scale aimed at creating short-chain networks for the enhancement of industrial waste. The search for innovative solutions to problems related to the disposal of consumer plastics, supplies from alternative sources to petrochemicals and the development of new degradable and biodegradable materials are the basis of my work, as evidenced by scientific publications and exhibitions at conferences.
