About David Basna

I started my career in the manufacturing over 17 years ago knowing almost nothing, to becoming the go to person. Whether an operator needed help with setting up equipment or training, to upper management needing help with data analysis or implementations of new production lines. I would always make myself available to anyone in need of help or guidance. I’m always looking to improve and better myself in knowledge and pushing myself outside my comfort zone.Having experienced a wide range of manufacturing industries, from Defense & Space, medical devices industries which demand precision that is needed to satisfy strict customer specification. To mass production of consumer goods, electrical/electronic and the dynamic needs of products consumed worldwide. With that many years and a wide range of experiences enables me to adapt and thrive in high pressure settings, seeing things from any different aspects. Always looking to learn new things which have led me into many different places that have turning into hobbies that I love, and others have pushed me into thinking out of the box to be part of upcoming industries. I’m always on the lookout for upcoming technologies that will change existing industries or ones that are building new ones. Knowledge is powerful when put into motion.Specialties: WMS, ERP, Data Analysis, Forecasting, Microsoft products, Adobe products, Acquisitions, Blockchain, Composite, NDT, Soldering, ESD, Manufacturing Engineering, Harding Lathes & Mills

  • Bio-Chem Fluidics
    Engineenring Technician
    Bio-Chem Fluidics Apr 2011 - Mar 2012
Since I started at Bio-Chem I have helped develop a few work procedures and tests from my past experience. Since working for Bio-Chem I have learned how to use Solidworks2011 and Mas200. Using Solidworks I designed their first vibration fixture using past experience to satisfy new customer requirements of testing. Since Bio-Chems products are mainly made out of plastics I have learned some of the characters of the plastics that are used to make the different parts and different types of valves. I was also able to use my past electronics experience to help them make a critical decision on whether to implement a new process which would have cost thousands of dollars or modify an existing one to meet customer requirements which will cost only several hundred dollars. At Bio-Chem I’m responsible for all life cycling of current and new products, along with testing that is not done on the production floor do to the complexity of the tests. All prototypes are tested by me before being shipped to the clients. R&D Testing also is done under my watch. I also oversee the Engineering Lab which is where R&D and prototype testing are done.
  • Marotta Controls, Inc.
R&D Lead Technician / Production Cell Development
Marotta Controls, Inc. May 2002 - May 2010
    Montville,Nj
I started at Marotta knowing nothing about the products or operations of a medium size manufacturing company. They manufacture many unique products ranging from manually operated hardware to computer controlled units, from 250lbs to only a few ounces. I received my Level B instructor certification for the NASA-STD-8739.3 standard after being employed for less than two years. After 6 plus years of learning, I have made hardware that is installed on the International Space Station, Military submarines, Military fighter planes, offshore platforms, and other mission critical areas. Along with quoting future manufacturing project and qualification testing where costs totaled over $250K. I was also tasked to research and develop new procedures that comply with ISO 9001:2000 and customer requirements. While developing new product lines in the engineering department I was also developing new manufacturing production cell areas for products that pasted qualification testing using lean manufacturing methods. Organizing vendors for new products or contacting customers for more information I was able to always keep things in their proper place. Learned about the key property characteristics of many kinds of materials (SS 304, 316, 15-5, Ti, T6 Aluminum, PEEK, Vespel, etc…) Made tools and R&D parts on Harding Lathes & Mills.
