I enjoy working with creative people on projects involving art, science, and design. I'm especially interested in finding fun and effective ways to connect people with information; exploring the relationships between art, science, design, and society; and inspiring excitement about discovery.With life-long involvement in the fields of art and design - and nearly 20 years’ experience in non-profit management - I'm skilled at designing and implementing engaging, creative experiences that are secretly educational. Favorite projects from the past dozen years include the annual international "Edmund N. Bacon Urban Design Student Competition" for university students, the recently redesigned "Architecture in Education" in-school design curriculum for grade school students, and the annual "Louis I. Kahn Award" which brings an internationally-renowned architect to Philadelphia to share their insights into the creative process through a talk and exhibition of their work and process.My favorite creative accomplishment at DesignPhiladelphia has been the development of the annual "Constructing Play: Classic + Modern Building Toys" exhibition, which explores the past 175+ years of commercial building and construction toys. The exhibition has drawn up to 10,000 visitors to its hands-on displays + family workshops during its annual two-month run - and has served as the inspiration for over a dozen similar exhibitions at architecture + design centers around the world.
