Mts, Hardware Engineering
Started at DRT with the responsibility of designing a very short turnaround board that combined significant elements of two previous products. The schedule was very aggressive, but I met the schedule dates with first pass success. This opened up a significant new market for the company, one that is responsible for several Million $ in new revenue. Additional responsibilities included acting as Project Engineer for 2 products, responsible for requirements analysis, radio systems engineering, NPI and factory troubleshooting.
Rf Concept Engineer
I joined Agere to design and architect a digital RF Transceiver for GSM/EDGE. After Infineon purchased our group, that effort was dropped, and we picked up responsibility for derivative products, taking existing IFX cellular transceivers supporting GSM/EDGE/UMTS, and modifying them to meet some customer specific requirements. In this work, I was the primary customer technical interface, answering their technical questions and developing internal specifications to meet their requirements. I've made multiple technical presentations to our customers, and assisted in winning development contracts with several customers.
Systems Engineer
Systems Engineering in support of a new group within Tyco, working to re-enter the cellular handset market. Clean sheet of Paper design of a Polar Transmitter for CDMA/GSM/EDGE. My primary responsibility was working at the system level to define blocks in an IC, but I also helped define the testing procedures and did a fair amount of the bench testing of the system breadboards.- Matlab/Simulink modeling of a sigma delta fractional n synthesizer, including phase modulation.- System level design of a small signal polar transmitter for CDMA2000, including working through the filter bandwidth/timing alignment inherent in the design of a polar transmitter
Rf Engineer
I had multiple positions at Motorola, starting in the Paging group in Boynton Beach, FL. I moved to Ft. Worth to work in the 2 way paging group, and helped start a derivative products group there. I left Paging in 1999, and moved to the Cellular handset group in Piscataway, NJ, where I was one of the lead engineers on a CDMA handset. (Timeport 270). All of my jobs at Motorola involved started a new product from a blank sheet of paper and taking them into production. I ended up taking nine products into production startup, and supported several of them in the factory, concurrently with working on new product development. I left Motorola to join Tyco Electronics in 2001
