I led the IT, DevOps, and InfoSec teams for a subsidiary of a larger organization. In this role my responsibilities included maintaining the success that Propeller Health had building an infrastructure to help treat chronic lung diseases around the world while also ensuring that best practices from each organization were communicated and implemented in both where possible. Tightly integrating the smaller organization into the larger one also became a key outcome expected out of the role.Working across both organizations was a key skill to ensure that efficiencies of the larger corporate parent were effectively utilized in the subsidiary while maintaining the agile nature of the smaller group.

Propeller Health is dedicated to helping people with COPD and asthma control their diseases. In this role I was a player/coach responsible for the organization's DevOps, IT, and InfoSec personnel and programs. This included cloud services like AWS and Cloudflare; GRC programs including HITRUST and SOC2; and IT services like call centers and Google Workspace.This role required me to work with people across the entire organization to ensure that we provided the services everyone needed while staying compliant with our internal GRC programs, as well as government regulations in the regions where we operated. I maintained a high-performing team during the pandemic and the challenges associated with a sudden shift to virtual work.I was promoted into this role after a successful stint as a technology leader without personnel management responsibilities.

This role required me to take ownership of the day-to-day technical decisions around the company's DevOps program. I created and maintained the internal DevOps road map, which provided long-term guidance around projects and goals. In addition I worked closely with Engineering and leadership to keep projects on track, choose solutions, and explore options. Using data I was able to increase the efficiency of our cloud computing spend which lowered our bills while increasing our overall services.I was promoted into this role after successfully changing the way the company operated using automation and improved processes.

When I took this role the company was struggling to get faster and more automated in the cloud. During my time in this role I improved the company's build and deployment processes for software measurably. Instead of taking downtime and involving a group of to deploy our software, I shifted the company and culture to deployments that could happen anytime and involved one person kicking off an automation. I was responsible for the shift to containers for software deployment and testing. I also brought the concept of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to the company and introduced the use of Terraform to manage it.

Networked Insights provided about consumer behavior to marketing companies and retailers. In this role I started their migration to cloud services.

I was part of a small group bringing a greenfield product to market.In this role I functioned as an internal consultant for technologies like docker, CI/CD, and AWS while maintaining services for the product group to which I was formally attached.I was promoted to this role after successfully transforming the way the product group built, deployed, and packaged their software.

As part of a greenfield product group, I was charged with decreasing the amount of time and effort that software engineers spent testing, deploying, and packaging their work. I used cloud services, CI/CD software like Jenkins, docker containers, and other technologies to produce a fully-automated pipeline. That pipeline took code from check-in to deployment to packaging automatically. We produced software for all three major cloud platforms, as well as VMWare, which required me to be familiar with how all those various platforms functioned.

IceCube built a cutting-edge neutrino detector in the ice at the South Pole in Antarctica. As part of a team I was responsible for building big data systems in the northern hemisphere to process data obtained at the South Pole. I was also part of a team that built a data center at the South Pole to do preliminary processing of events on site. Using Iridium I also invented and built a system that allowed systems at the South Pole to send important events to the north 24/7 for immediate processing by scientists.
