I am a start-up guy. I mentor, lead, turnaround, and create companies, mainly in enterprise software -- digital, cloud and mobile solutions for larger companies -- but also in education, clean tech, and crowd computing. In my work life, I have three main areas of focus: -- Mentoring: I work with start-ups at MIT, Harvard and beyond, sometimes as a board member or investor or paid advisor or just because it's there. I love it. Successful teams include an all terrain wheelchair company (GRIT), a digital exchange for government properties (Tolemi), and a Media Lab spinout focused on text analytics (Luminoso). -- Growth and Innovation: I have joined IMTK, the leading Innovation Management Platform company. IMTK's suite provides crowd-sourced ideation and collaboation, deep analytics and decision-making tools and execution management in an end2end innovation solution for the enterprise. The products we developed at Enterprise Innovation Partners(innovate-partners.com) became part of the IMTK suite. My work at IMTK will allow me to continue developing unique approaches and tools for companies seeking new or renewed areas for growth, including an exciting Next Generation Platform due in 2018.-- Impact Investing: Leveraging private initiative for public benefit is the economic challenge of our time. The Private Market Impact Fund, developed by CIP, is now part of New Summit Investments (http://www.newsummitinvestments.com/strategies.html). PMI enables a new generation of investors to support profit-making enterprises in sustainable technology, healthy commerce, and economic opportunity. Our investments target competitive returns and measurable impact. Fund One closed in 2016 and is now fully invested and cranking.
