LOC (now ABL-LOC) is global marine consultancy headquartered in London UK. Work involved the development of a digital strategy and product road map to introduce digital products and workflow to LOC clients. Products developed included a SaaS product to track vessel emissions in accordance with the Poseidon Principles, an internal SaaS product to automate documentation generation, and a comprehensive internal database of all global vessels with an IMO number. Work included the management of client relationships, management of development teams, and internal engagement to spark employee engagement in a range of digital initiatives .Clients included leading banks, insurance companies and port authorities.

Guided a team of developers and data scientists in the creation of a machine vision software development library that allowed rapid algorithm development using machine vision/learning library functions, a flexible image processing pipeline and hardware accelerated neural networks. This software was used to developed multiple application specific systems that utilized the machine learning and computer vision techniques to process massive amounts of data in real time and thereby automate decisions about product qualityWith the Clarity product used both Agile and waterfall methodologies to guide a multi-disciplinary team in the development of complex machine vision projects with various clients including Nestle, Mars Petcare, Huhtamkai, HJ Heinz, VIP Packaging, Murray Goulbourn and Johnson Matthey. Two of these systems won innovation awards from Nestle and the Australian Government respectively.During my time at VMV I introduced agile methodologies to the organisation to improve overall software quality and to increase development velocity. I established four high-performing agile delivery teams, with a customer focused mind-set and I line-managed, coached and mentored 20+ engineers.

Defined processes and tools best suited to each project. Seconded to France from Australia for a year to integrate the R&D departments of Colour Vision Systems and MAF RODA. The focus was on getting a common hardware and software platforms in place. I worked with a team of engineers to implement a common bespoke image processing boards (programmable hardware) that utilized shared computer vision libraries. The resulting system was comprised of CMOS cameras interfaced to a PCI based vision card and performed real time analysis on the images (defect ID with neural networks, 3D image reconstruction, colour normalization etc) Accountable to the R&D Managers in CVS and MAF Roda.Introduced extreme programming and agile methodologies to improve overall software and hardware quality and increase development velocity. Integrated cross cultural teams which resulted in high-performing delivery teams.

Accountable to the R&D Manager and responsible for the development and commercialization of custom designed hardware accelerated neural networks (building on work from my PhD thesis). Introduced extreme programming methodologies ran scrum ceremonies for a team of software and hardware engineers.
