Jack, Jules, and Sam White were pioneers of two-reel comedies. As head of Columbia Pictures’ Short Subjects department, Jules White produced and/or directed hundreds of two-reel comedies, including 102 of the Three Stooges’ 190 Columbia comedies. Older brother Jack, a successful comedy producer-director throughout the 1920s, directed a number of Stooges comedies in the 1930s under the pseudonym “Preston Black.” This is the definitive account of working with the Stooges from the point of view of their frequent collaborators behind the camera.
