In collaboration with researchers from across the globe, The International Respiratory Infections Society (IRIS) promotes research in the field of respiratory infections, disseminates scientific information on respiratory infections, and convenes educational programs and events to encourage and support continuing education and training in respiratory infection research.

I direct the planning, implementation and evaluation for the portfolio of research projects initiated and managed by NIDI. I also direct the process of support services requests for the PRC including: developing and maintaining the method of request, valuation of request, fulfilling of request, evaluation of services provided and reporting of support service activities. I oversee the annual operating budget and direct the development of budgets of those projects managed by the NIDI. In my role, I am involved in the recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, work plan, and professional development plan for staff. I lead and develop the operational support programs and supervise research operations staff of the NIDI. I assist unit faculty with identifying and applying for external funding organizations and opportunities, actively participate in grant concept and development, grant-writing, and in concept development, interpretation of findings, and manuscript preparation and serve as a liaison with other Norton Healthcare units and external agencies.I exercise program management of research operations by managing timelines, objectives and expectations of program and executive leadership as it relates to the project while fostering team participation. This includes financial responsibility of both studies and operations; overseeing employee engagement action plans, performance appraisals, hiring/firing, corrective actions, leading staff meetings; participating in the annual budget process. To support the development of research at NIDI, I work with sponsors and investigators to plan and oversee the development and implementation of projects., define scope of project and develop project plan, set scope boundaries/timelines and deliverables schedule, and work with Director and Investigators to develop appropriate timelines, goals, and implementation plans.

Leading a collaboration between the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), Project ECHO and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) to advance improvements in COVID-19 preparedness, safety and infection control in nursing homes. The University of Louisville Trager Institute is the official training center for nursing homes for the Network that serves as a virtual community of practice for nursing home staff to engage with experts and their peers and share cases for real-time discussion and advice.I lead all project management activities for the Project ECHO that is supporting and educating 278 nursing homes in KY, TN, IN, OH, MI & NY to:• Keep the virus from entering nursing homes where it has not entered• Identify residents and staff who have been infected with the virus early• Prevent the spread of the virus between staff, residents and visitors• Provide safe and appropriate care to residents with mild and asymptomatic cases• Ensure staff have the knowledge, skills and confidence to implement best-practice safety measures to protect residents and themselves
