I've spent the last 25+ years working with many technologies, mostly Java related, plus a few oddball outliers just to keep things interesting.Things I have played recently that I have enjoyed:* Dart - Easy to pick up coming from Java, and has some nice modern QOL stuff.* Flutter - A mobile and web development framework that isn't react! Simple to pick up and start building useful things with. I've never felt more productive when working on the front end.To all you recruiters out there, hello! Here are a few things I can say about myself that might help you decide if you want to get in touch:I want my work to make customers happy. I know it sounds like a trite thing to say, but I spent far too long working on products that customers tolerated at best, and too often actively disliked. I want to be someplace that does better, and be in a position to help make it happen.Playing with new and cutting edge tech is a lot of fun, and occasionally necessary. But on an average day, keeping the wheels on the bus (and the revenue flowing) is far more important. That doesn’t mean I’m scared of new technologies, but they have to be evaluated in a reasonable fashion, and used in a way that benefits the business, and not just the employee. I like to feel like more than just a small cog in a big machine. Helping a small company grow into a larger one can be a lot of fun though.Please don’t ask me to take an intelligence or personality test. I’m happy to talk to you until you are convinced of my possession (or lack) of either.I like the idea of working someplace where I can put down roots. Too many people these days hang around 12 or 18 months and move on, and repeat this with each job. I like to stick around and see long term plans pay off firsthand."No Silver Bullet" by Fred Brooks remains the most relevant paper on software engineering. Those organizations that understand this are going to be better places to work, and ultimately more successful than those that do not.I am profoundly uninterested in what you are doing with blockchain.
