My philosophy is to, wherever possible, ‘avoid the problem versus fix the problem’. To me, that means having a well-defined vision for the intended path to a future goal, a compelling ‘why’ for the action steps and clear, honest communication around direction and progress. An innate drive to solve complex problems, led me from engineering into project, then program, management in one of the world’s most dynamic and multi-faceted of industries – MedTech. It’s a career that’s allowed me to build diverse teams, drive R&D, live and work internationally and, critically, to keep learning. Curiosity around the broader business impacts of the technically focused programs I was working on, led me to compete an executive MBA, providing me with a more rounded approach to business case building and decision making. So far, my career has allowed me to: · Transfer to the USA to successfully launch Class II products into the market, including FDA clearance. · Create a new specialist product support department, leading over 20 international project teams and 50+ successful projects (whilst concurrently achieving my MBA). · Manage the full lifecycle medical device product development, from customer needs identification, through project business case and departmental budget preparation, team recruitment, product validation through CE Marking and FDA clearance and sales. · Focus on strong technical research to achieve 10 patents. · Build, manage and develop significant international, specialist project teams. I enjoy connecting with other problem solvers and decision makers in complex or regulated industries, such as BioTech, renewable energy and, of course, medical devices and technology.
