I have worked with 19 SMEs for a significant period and six of those have doubled their profit (or more). SMEs are very important to the UK economy as they account for almost 61% of employment and over 51% of turnover (UK Government October 2022).Portfolio FDs will only work with around five SMEs at any time, so they can really get involved in their client’s business and be very responsive to their clients needs. I started my business career in 1983, receiving world class training in a number of large blue chip companies including Procter & Gamble until 1996. I became a qualified accountant in 1986, after 3 years, required for relevant experience.From 1996 through to 2009, I held various board level positions as Group Financial Controller; Finance Director and Group CFO. The companies were all involved with consumer goods one way or another. I have worked closely with Marketing, Operations, Production, HR and IT. I have worked in a wide variety of Corporate Structures:- large US multinationals; 50/50 joint ventures, private equity backed multinationals, partnership; start-ups and a family owned group.
