Selected tool compounds for synthesis via an external vendor which were utilized in validating primary and secondary biological assays. Evaluated data from the HTS screen and selected multiple chemotypes for follow-up by chemistry.Utilized a template hopping strategy to develop a novel piperazine-based triple reuptake inhibitor (TRI). Proposed and directed the optimization strategy for this series which was the first TRI evaluated by the program that demonstrated in vivo efficacy. Executed multiple scale-up campaigns that rapidly delivered intermediates and final compounds to the team (20 to 100 g).

Key driver for early discovery and lead optimization of the P2X3 receptor antagonist program. Co-inventor of the first drug-like P2X3 antagonist to enter the clinic. Proposed the optimization strategy for the diaminopyrimidine lead series resulting in the clinical candidate.
