I am an entrepreneur in the outdoor industry with a mission to spread the Scandinavian Way of outdoor pursuits, I work in my local community to strengthen entrepreneurial and SME development as Chairman of Företagarna, the local business association, and I believe sustainable business models are the future. My firm belief is also that a knife is a tool, not a weapon. Why? The Scandinavian Way of Outdoor pursuits is characterized by a deep connection to nature, simplicity, and sustainability. It always involves "fika" (coffee or hot chocolate served with a small snack like cinnamon rolls), good clothing (adjusted to the weather), and a campfire usually with the assistance of a knife or a small axe. In Scandinavian outdoor pursuits, a knife holds significant importance and serves various roles:- Utility Tool: A knife is a versatile tool used for various outdoor tasks such as cutting, carving, and preparing food. - Cultural Tradition: The use of knives in outdoor activities is deeply rooted in Scandinavian culture and traditions. Learning how to use a knife responsibly and skillfully is often passed down through generations, contributing to a sense of heritage and connection to the natural world.- Craftsmanship: Scandinavian knives are often crafted with attention to detail and quality, making them prized possessions for outdoor enthusiasts. Many people appreciate the craftsmanship and aesthetics of these knives in addition to their practical functionality.Notice how violence is not involved at all?This mentality is why I felt it was natural to start a knife business in 2007 and spread good Scandinavian knives around the world. It is why in 2013 I decided I wanted to produce even better knives under my brand Casström. It is also why I still think we are doing good by inspiring people to engage in the Scandinavian way of outdoor pursuits with our products and through our interaction with the online outdoor community.
