I have over 30 years experience in Lean Thinking and Practice and use these skills to help companies and individuals design and lead their own Lean Transformations.I have been both applying and researching lean since 1990. I manage the activities at the Lean Enterprise Academy - a not for profit organisation, established to help customers become self-reliant on their lean journey. Through research, products and services we provide better, faster and cheaper ways to learn and improve. I have worked with Dan Jones since 1997, involved in both pioneering research into lean thinking and the practical implementation of lean practice.Specialties: Coaching executives to help them use lean to solve their business problems.Developing action based research to improve the learning process of Lean Thinking and Practice in organisations.Educating and coaching individuals and organisations in the process. Sharing and disseminating the generic lessons from implementing Lean.I have walked, mapped, taught and coached lean in hundreds of value streams. I have consequently worked in almost every conceivable environment. From manufacturing to service sectors. Examples include steel production, vehicle and component assembly, FMCG, retailing, banking, IT and financial services. I've carried out work to develop lean in sales, after sales, used car processing and parts operations at dealer and national sales company level. During that time the management team achieved a five fold increase in sales. My work on lean dealer operations formed the basis for several chapters in James P. Womack and Daniel Jones’ book, “Lean Solutions“. It led to me co-writing writing “Creating Lean Dealers – the lean route to satisfied customers, productive employees and profitable retailers” (2007.) I help a growing number of (mostly Toyota) dealers around the world successfully implement lean thinking and practice.I have an MBA from Cardiff Business School during which I specilaised in lean and supply chain management.
