In his 2005 commencement speech at Stanford University, Steve Jobs said that in his early days he "followed his curiosity and intuition" and that's what led him to create Apple. He also said: "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road, will give you the confidence to follow your heart." I followed my heart. Looking backwards, I can now connect the dots that led me to do what I love...to transform people's lives through teaching and curriculum design. I was waiting for the ignition sequence to start. I needed the experience in industry and academic credentials to take on a new and exciting role at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh: Associate Professor of Contemporary Business Practices. Three...two...one...liftoff!
