As a Regulatory Analyst with the California Fish and Game Commission, I am the lead analyst on a number of proposed regulation change packages concerning the management of fish and wildlife in California. My primary responsibility while handling these regulation changes is to guide them through the entire rule-making process from initial conception, adoption by the Commission, to approval by the Office of Administrative Law and subsequent filing with the Secretary of State. In the development of regulation changes, I work within a multidisciplinary Core Team on each proposed change. These Core Teams involve a wide array of different professionals including biologists, policy advisors, legal counsel, and mid-level and executive management. I advise these Core Teams on compliance with the Administrative Procedure Act, closely review and edit rulemaking documents for clarity, necessity, accessibility, and purpose, and regularly update Commission management on the timing of my regulatory packages and any potential impacts on concurrent Commission business. My other ancillary responsibilities at the Fish and Game Commission include monitoring the Commission’s primary email account to forward correspondence to the appropriate staff and to respond to public inquiries, creating briefing binders for the Commission's bi-monthly public meetings, and maintaining the Commission’s perpetual timetable for ongoing and anticipated regulatory actions. I am a graduate of Sacramento State University, holding a B.A. in Political Science and currently pursuing an M.A. in Political Science with an emphasis on California and its political environment. I have extensive knowledge of our systems and institutions of government from the national to the local level. Prior to earning my Bachelor’s Degree and then pursuing a Master’s, I transferred from my local community college with Associate’s Degrees in Sociology and Pre-Law. Political Science is a broad field since politics and government affect all things in one way or another. This is why I have been a passionate student of the subject for years, as all of my interests have a relationship with the political world. To conclude my undergraduate career, I interned for the Lieutenant Governor of California, Eleni Kounalakis. In this role, I gained firsthand experience in an office at the highest levels of State Government. I applied my educational background in a supportive capacity to the Lieutenant Governor and her staff, as well as in a representative capacity when the office was contacted by constituents statewide.
