Watson Research Center in Hawthorne, New York, USA, ultimately as a member of the research staff, before moving to Google.I've worked in a number of different areas, from QoS-based resource allocation to virtual machines (both on mainframe virtual machines under VM/370 and on distributed virtual machines on Intel architectures under Xen and VMware), to computer security and computer virus countermeasures (I'm co-author of one of the few basic theoretical results in the anti-virus area, and also was on the IBM AntiVirus R&D team), autonomic computing (co-author of the widely-cited "Vision of Autonomic Computing" paper), scalable systems management (incorporated a scalable peer-to-peer infrastructure into IBM's WebSphere XD product) and strategy work in Cloud Computing, systems management, immersive virtual worlds, and the architecture, design, simulation and implementation of systems software for novel ASIC-based supercomputers.
