Product Manager representing IT by working with Business Leaders to identify, enumerate, prioritize and deliver solutions based on their business needs.

Manage the Application Integration group which uses webMethods to integrate several large internally developed applications as well as JD Edwards, payroll, accounting, marketing, Human Resources and several other corporate and departmental applications. Additionally, David serves as an application architect for the Application Development Department and supports several critical legacy applications.

Having developed a Rapid Application Development (and delivery) capability at Rollins, and moving this new capability into the mainstream of Rollins Application Development, my focus has been to develop a Center of Excellence around Rapid Application Development. This "new" capability was used to produce new customer-facing web apps and capabilities that resulted in significantly improving Rollins ability to compete with national and inter-national competitors. Also, as a result of this work, the corporate portfolio of application tools was reduced and several racks of hardware in the data center were no longer needed.

Rollins is updating and upgrading their application and operational environment. I am managing new application development in Microsoft's .Net technology as well as leading the effort to migrate several existing applications from JAVA and DB2 to .Net and SQL Server.

Performed an analysis for a company that wanted an assessment of their Amazon Cloud based application’s quality and scalability.- JAVA-based Tomcat-hosted application integrating Struts2 (Model-View-Controller), Spring (transaction processing), Hibernate (data access) and MySQL for a relational data store.- Identified improvement opportunities in database design and application security.

Member of the Global Application Architecture Team- Governance - evaluated projects for compliance with corporate standards and architectural guidelines.- Consulted with development teams on application and data architecture- Evaluated new technologies- Developed application standards and guidelines- Product Lifecycle Management including developing roadmaps guiding the use of various versions of products like Visual Studio, Visual Basic, SQL Server, Team Foundation Server, Microsoft Office and others.- Evangelized the use of Team Foundation Server (TFS) for the entire IT organization. Installed the TFS application resulting in one common tool to use for safely storing application development artifacts such as source code and design documents as well as providing a common tool, for all developers, for tracking changes and bugs to supported applications.Advised a process for upgrading a 15-year old critical, primary business application running Classic ASP, .NET 2.0 and MSSQL Server 2000. Recommended a staged approach that included upgrading the database and concurrently running a front-end loading effort to better understand the scope of the effort. Architected, designed and built a multilingual external web-facing .Net application that allowed garment manufacturers around the world to establish the branded fibers they wanted to license in their products. A legal document was then modified to create a new legal agreement pushed to the client’s PC as a PDF. Concurrently, data was pushed to the business’ SalesForce implementation where a workflow process was followed to get the license approved.Technical Lead for the R&D organization’s project to pilot the use of a new tool called Goldfire to help with innovation. Procured the necessary hardware and installed the software. Worked with Compliance and Intellectual Property organizations to address concerns so that internet access policies could be adjusted.Worked with R&D engineers to optimize manufacturing efficiency at several plant sites. My primary contribution was the consolidation of millions of production records in multiple data base technologies to produce summary information at the “production run” level that helped to identify points in the physical manufacturing systems that needed attention. The overall project resulted in improvements valued at millions of dollars.Environment: Process Control Systems, IP21, SQL Server, ExcelDesigned and built the application to read and process MSMQ messages sent by a large-scale process control manufacturing system. Designed and built the data warehouse and, designed and built an internal .Net web-based internal application to provide access and standard reports from that data. Subsequently travelled with the team to install the application and train the users at five sites in Camden, South Carolina, Monterrey, Mexico, Gloucester, England, Östringen, Germany and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
