I have successfully treated over seven thousand patients whose diagnostic tests were normal. In most of them, the illness was caused by a partly or completely hidden stress not detected by other doctors. My first book, They Can’t Find Anything Wrong!, was published in October, 2007. The book uses four dozen carefully selected stories to help the reader uncover and manage their own hidden stresses. A president of the American Psychosomatic Society called it "truly remarkable" and Brit and Co. named it one of the five best mind-body books ever written. The book has been featured in newspapers and magazines and I have done over 200 interviews on television, radio and podcasts. In 2011 I co-founded and became president of the Psychophysiologic Disorders Association (PPDA), a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to educate professionals and the public about stress-based pain or illness. In 2024 we adopted the name Association for Treatment of Neuroplastic Symptoms.I was lead editor for a second book, Psychophysiologic Disorders (2019), written for the medical profession but often prescribed for patients by mental health professionals and a third book, A Diagnostic Guide for Psychophysiologic Disorders. I have also been a producer on three documentary films about PPD.I have presented seminars to health care professionals and the public throughout North America and in Europe that have been described as "life-changing." These provide insight into stresses that most people fail to fully recognize and this facilitates successful treatment.
