I currently work as the Assistant Provost for Global Education at Columbia College Chicago. Prior to my position at Columbia College, I worked for seventeen years at the University of Chicago holding various positions: Associate Director of International Programs at the Booth School of Business, Senior Adviser for International Initiatives in The College and Assistant Director in the Office of International Affairs. I also serve as a Study Abroad Research Consultant for the Center for Global Education at California State University at Dominguez Hills. Additionally, I have taught online for The George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development.I serve on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Studies in International Education (JSIE), as a Peer Reviewer for Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad and I have co-authored several book chapters, journal articles and reports on international education topics. I publish the International Higher Education Consulting Blog, one of six blogs worldwide selected by the New York Times editors to feed into the International Education section of the New York Times online for nearly four years until they built up enough content. I have also served on multiple task forces and committees of The Forum on Education Abroad and NAFSA: Association of International Educators and am a trustee emeritus of the Fund for Education AbroadI received my B.A. in Spanish and Latin American Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, my M.S. in Family Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and my Ph.D. in Cultural and Educational Policy Studies, Comparative and International Education from Loyola University Chicago.The opinions expressed are my own, and they do not necessarily represent the views or opinions of my employer.
