I'm an award-winning public radio reporter, writer and photojournalist who covers critical, complex topics — from climate change and water scarcity to immigration and racism — in often overlooked places. My work has been honored with three National Edward R. Murrow awards (Excellence in Writing, Sports Reporting and Digital), seven Regional Edward R. Murrow awards (Excellence in Writing x2, Hard News, Digital, News Series, Sports Reporting and Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and seven Public Media Journalists Association awards (Enterprise x2, Use of Sound, Photojournalism, Audio Scripting, Sports Feature and Arts Feature). Additionally, my reporting has won numerous awards from the Society of Professional Journalists (Top of the Rockies Regional Award in Social Justice), the National Educational Telecommunications Association (Public Media Award in Society & Culture), the Kansas Press Association (Environmental Reporting, Agricultural Reporting, Political Reporting, News Series, Environmental Portrait and Feature Photography) and the Kansas Association of Broadcasters (Hard News Reporting, Feature Reporting, Spot News Reporting and Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion).I'm passionate about reporting that unravels complex issues, shines a light on undercovered angles and elevates marginalized voices. Prior to joining KUER in Utah, I spent 2.5 years covering rural Kansas with High Plains Public Radio and the Kansas News Service.
