As President of the organization, my role at Virgin Pulse was primarily operational with a particular focus on Customer Success, Member Marketing, Analytics, and Professional Services.When I first joined in 2012, Virgin Pulse had 45 employees and $14M in ARR. Over the course of four years, I helped grow the company to 500 employees and nearly $100M in ARR. KEY INITIATIVES► Developed a highly effective Customer Success Program, which boasted a 95% customer contract renewal rate and promoted significant business expansion► Drove increased Member Engagement within the broad range of client organizations, many of which were Fortune 500 companies► Built expert Analytics Group, which provided the behavioral science to explore the factors that affect employee engagement and the interventions that promote more effective participation► Implemented Professional Services division, which handled the development and delivery of customer projects for customers► Created the Member Services division, which offered an in-house call center and expanded the company's communications channels, resulting in a cost reduction of 35% and a 62% NPS score

In this role, I drove some of the Upromise’s largest sponsorship and co-marketing deals with GM, New York Life, Countrywide Mortgage, and many more. These key relationships with influential, national brands quickly raised the company’s profile and built an early momentum. In addition to driving the buy-in from numerous “off-line” retailers, I also developed one of the country’s first cash-back online shopping malls, an innovation that soon became the most profitable business for Upromise and served as a model for hundreds of our competitors. After Sallie Mae bought the company for $300M in 2006, I stayed on with Upromise and was named CEO in 2009.

As a founding Principal at Monitor Clipper Partners, I helped raise $700 million for the company’s first fund. Our group primarily invested in established companies, with the largest investment of $70 million closing shortly before my departure in late 1999. Returns on that deal exceeded 4x the initial investment.
