I am the former Vice President and General Counsel for Maserati North America, Inc., the US importer of exotic Maserati motor vehicles. Maserati is one of the most sought after cars with unmatched performance, style and exclusivity.For the nine months prior to this position, I was the Safety Integrity and Recall Manager in the Engineering department at BMW managing the recall processes with government agencies including the NHTSA and CPSC. Before working in the Engineering Department, I was the senior Corporate Counsel at BMW of North America, LLC, the US importer of luxury BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles and associated parts and aftersales/lifestyle products. My legal career at BMW lasted 26 years. My primary responsibility at BMW was the management of complex and multi-district litigation. I was also the in-house counsel that handled the landmark punitive damage case decided by the US Supreme Court, Gore v. BMW, which established the guideposts for the lower courts to follow when deciding on the excessiveness of punitive damages. My other responsibilities at BMW were (1) the defense of the company in product liability and safety related matters; (2) involvement in structured finance transactions and (3) involvement in the US Customs issues.Once a year, I was a guest speaker at Temple University Law School on the subject of punitive damages and class action lawsuits.
