The City of Lakes Family Health Team is an interdisciplinary team of family physicians and healthcare professionals working collaboratively to serve the primary care needs of over 20,000 patients across the City of Greater Sudbury.

At 39 years old, I was honoured to be the youngest elected Mayor in the history of Sudbury. I view leadership as a sacred trust that emphasizes integrity, collaboration and sustainable growth. During my tenure Sudbury experienced significant economic growth and development, including; the reversal of a decade of youth out-migration; the attraction of $439 million in new construction activity; the execution of the largest infrastructure renewal program in the City's history; and a debt-free municipality. Other initiatives included: the Constellation City report: the Diversity Thrives Here program; a significant investment in the arts and leisure sectors; the adoption of a 100% smoke-free by-law; the implementation a healthy community strategy; a Downtown Revitalization initiative; the MySudbury portal and marketing campaign; the establishment of the Centre for Mining Innovation; the Claiming our Stake mining sector strategy; and a massive corporate re-structuring program.

As a City and Regional Councillor, I helped to lead several initiatives including: EarthCare Sudbury; the Sudbury 2020 Focus on the Future conference; the Arts & Culture Policy; Rotary Park; a new bicycle route system; and, the Community Action Networks (C.A.N.s). I was fortunate to be elected to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Sudbury Heart Health was one of five provincial demonstration projects that tackled the issue of cardiovascular disease at a community level. As a community mobilization initiative it engaged municipalities, workplaces, businesses and local media to reduce significantly high incidences of heart disease in Sudbury. As Executive Director, I led a community coalition in the implementation of a series of initiatives designed to demonstrate effective change and, ultimately, a shift in the health culture of the community.
