As an Energy Manager at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, I work with closely with the trust’s net zero lead to decarbonize the hospitals’ estate. My goal is to align the trusts ambitious Climate Emergency Strategy with our science-based carbon budget by 2030. With a global reputation for sustainable healthcare leadership, our award-winning Sustainable Healthcare in Newcastle (Shine) program engages staff in climate action across all areas.My data-based approach to Energy Management comes from a deep understanding of how energy systems work and how technologies fit into business processes, this is unpinned by a strong background in data analysis, IT and design, combined with an education in business and finance.I'm passionate about data science and statistical analysis, I completed the Python Data Science track at DataCamp, I moderate DataCamp’s slack community and have worked with Shopify, Stava and a number of local start ups to developing dashboards that present meaningful data.Community I have recently written some articles for the Energy Managers Association (EMA)’s monthly magazine and I wrote a series of 20 articles in collaboration with Codeworks for the Journal's technotes column, talking about how new technologies and how they could be used businesses.Over the past 8 years I've been involved in the North East Tech community, helping deliver events like Supermondays, Barcamp NE, Codeworks, Bytenight and the Data Science Meetup group. I have also worked with The Arts Council, The AV Festival, the NGCV Digital Group, Northumbria University and Culture Label.Sustainability Achievements• First healthcare organization globally to declare a climate emergency.• Pioneering efforts in renewable energy projects, low-carbon care pathways, and anaesthetic gas capture and reuse.
