• AIRCOM was acquired by TEOCO on 29 November, 2013. Although my title changed, my role and work remained the same, continuing to manage the Mexico office and its customers in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Taking full advantage of my Spanish fluency and extensive knowledge of the company’s tools and capability, AIRCOM seconded me to the Brazil office to build the product and service business across Latin America, which at the time was unchartered territory, with only one customer. My main activities entailed presentations, tool demonstrations, proposals.

• Role in company varied over my year out from university, but mainly revolved around the radio planning tools that AIRCOM supplies. The year’s work is summarised as follows:
• Updating and writing training courses and manuals for AIRCOM software tools, including ASSET, NEPTUNE, DIRECT and CONNECT. A training CD was created for NOKIA that offered a step-by-step tutorial to designing a GSM.
• Provided training to MTN South Africa on the company’s drive-test logging and analysis tool, NEPTUNE.
• Joined 3G Hutchison workforce to assist with the rollout of the first 3G network in the UK. Responsible for installing AIRCOM tools and writing a client-server specification to interconnect Hutchison offices nationwide.
• Provided tool ASSET and CONNECT demonstrations for operators in Mexico (TELCEL) and Taiwan (Fareastone).

The work involved moving patients and transporting specimens and x-rays around the hospital. Main skills learnt were the interaction with a wide variety of people under many different circumstances and different ethnic backgrounds.

Involved in the design, construction and testing of a head set allowing a surgeon control of an endoscopic camera attached to a robotic arm. The project concluded with a detailed report about the work involved and recommendations for future work and funding.
