As a long jumper David reached Olympic and World Championship finals and twice won Commonwealth Games silver medals.David was a member of the IAAF Television Commission for eight years after a similar term on the Press Commission and was a board member at the Victorian Olympic Council. He is currently co-chair of the the Australian Olympians Association, the Australian Olympic Commitee's alumni body for Australian Olympic athletes.
