My current educational interests and consulting projects in this space include developing and delivering effective digital assessment, preventive or pre-disease management (PDM) strategies using nutrition, digital health and medical rehabilitation technologies to facilitate proactive patient engagement. Consulting projects have included: PT Clinical Consultant at University of Rhode Island and guest lecturer in PT DeptWellness and Sports Services Director -responsible for launch and integration of an in-clinic and digital menu of wellness service for sports performance, fall prevention, digital gait assessment, and remote telehealthPT offerings to extend the reach of the existing clinic. Also actively involved with local community outreach and research efforts in the local district schools and university levels. Prior to forming PTC I owned and operated a successful private physical therapy practice with multiple locations including a private corporate fitness and rehabilitation facility, One Body Health and Rehabilitation, in Providence which catered to amateur and professional athletes and provided rehab and performance nutrition services as well as offered a mobile PT/rehab division deployed to be on set to cater to the motion picture and film industry.

Although involved in a brief consulting role, I jumped at this opportunity to get trained on the EPIC EMR system with the goal of experiencing the state's largest "GoLive" throughout all of Lifespan's facilities. I provided physician, physical therapy and nursing education and support for Lifespan Epic Go Live as part of the Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) Team. I provided Super User level trained support for their hospital wide implementation of Lifespan’s new EMR, LifeChart, and gained specialization in physician education to provide elbow support during patient order and procedure entry in all critical care/ICU departments at Miriam Hospital. Assisted with implementation of classroom training and physician EMR personalization at both Miriam and Rhode Island Hospital prior to LifeChart Go Live and troubleshooting for health IT team. [Personal Sidebar] This brief role and experience provided the spark for my excitement and potential for digital medicine. Through all the hiccups of living through a large "GoLive" I believe I can help smaller startups learn how to improve their own systems and UI to provide meaningful data to help motivate and engage patients to connect to a better healthcare experience.
