Preparing for the next big shift.

After the first months, I stepped up and focused on the role of Director for L&D and drove internal and external enablement and growth, directly reporting to the CEOs.Our vision for L&D:"Creating an environment in which Pexonians become the best on the market and grow, work and win together as equals." The whole area consisted of four sub-areas:- Learning - Development- Architecture- Communities of Practice

In this new IT Executive role, I oversaw the overall impact on the delivery and execution of engagements. While focusing on processes, content, and training, I led the following sub-areas:- Project Leads, including Account Management- Learning and Development- Communities, CoEs, and CoPsThe major accomplishments in this role were:- Setup of a new career model and evaluation system- Setup of the roadmap for L&D- Strategic planning of budget, people, and projects for L&D- Setup of Organization Structure, including directors- Defining and gathering KPIs for L&D and all other stakeholders in the company- Streamlined processes for Onboarding and the Bootcamp

Afterward, I received the opportunity to move to the management level and work as the Head of Computing at Media Markt Saturn, focusing on the Global IT Platforms with an overall number of 7 teams, 40 engineers and architects, and 9 IT Country managers reporting to me. The focus areas were Public Cloud, Private Cloud, the Stores, and API Platform. As a seasoned engineer and influencer, I drove the strategic initiatives at MMS and redefined the company-wide IT-Platform strategy. Typical initiatives were the Engineering Community, the Engineering Board, the MMS Tech Radar, and many more.

This fantastic opportunity in the retail sector allowed me to entirely focus on Cloud Computing as a Principal Engineer, primarily working on Cloud Strategy and Cloud Architecture while reporting to the VP level. The primary Cloud providers in use were Google Cloud (GCP) and Azure.The typical areas I worked on in this role were:- Overall Cloud Strategy - Cloud Architecture / Hybrid Cloud implementation- Cloud Transformation- Cloud-Native implementation- DevSecOps / Cloud Security in general- Engineering Community- Architecture Decision Records- Tech Radar

The course named "Cloud KPI - Challenge" provided 20 students in one semester with the basics of Cloud and a dedicated technical challenge. Using GCP, the students gathered and visualized SRE and cost metrics for some of our Product teams at Media Markt Saturn. As a key challenge, the end goal was to identify good metrics/KPIs for cost efficiency, which our Product Teams will integrate afterward.

Switching the sides to the customer's point of view as an IT Architect in the Global Infrastructure team at Munich RE with the primary responsibilities for the Microsoft ecosystem, Automation, and Cloud Transformation, including Windows Server on-premises, - and especially on Azure.In this role, the dedicated tasks resulted out of:- Planning of internal and external projects - Technical holistic architecture design- Internal consulting for all topics around the Microsoft stack and in the automation space- Automation with DevSecOps principles and technologies like Azure Automation and PowerShell- Deployment and Configuration Management, Migration and Lifecycle Management for the Windows Server and Azure infrastructure- Securing and hardening the whole technology stack- Modernization with strategic future planning- Digital Transformation with Business focusAlso, focusing on the Microsoft ecosystem again, I will be working on the topics around IT Architecture, Digital Transformation & Automation, where you can see me actively blogging about and speaking on stage at conferences and Meetups.

In parallel, I was also highly involved in the startup ecosystem and managing the startup and community ecosystem in Munich and DACH. I was the leading agent for the Google Cloud for Startup program for the locations Munich, Zurich, and Hamburg, and supporting Berlin in managing events, office hours, conferences, and partnerships.

In this role, I provided strategic, architectural, and technical guidance for enterprise customers moving to the Google Cloud Platform. Our main connection point was usually the top management, where we discuss strategic decisions and help our customers through Digital Transformation. The afterward created migration projects were led end-to-end by myself, where we delivered architectural and technical guidance and involved the customer or partner teams in the implementation work. Here we had an overview of all the tasks from a project management point of view in the short-, mid-and long-term.The result was always to have a dedicated impact on the transformational projects and act as a trusted advisor for the customer.

As a PFE, I mainly worked in the specializations of Windows 10, PowerShell, Azure, and Security.My work was divided into proactive and reactive work. This means that I was delivering standardized or custom workshops, webcasts, phone advisories on the one hand. And on the other hand, I have been working with the customers on-site to fix technical problems or implement architectural decisions. I also had the chance to work on internal projects at MSFT. Here I worked in creating worldwide services like the 'Azure for IoT' and 'W10 News Flash' service and was leading services like 'Activate Windows 10'. Due to my work in PowerShell Security and WaaS, I often had the chance to speak with mid-and higher management about long-term architectural discussions and digital transformation. Also, I was very actively working in communities. I managed the PowerShell UserGroup Germany and the location Munich and spoke at many conferences on PowerShell, Security, and WaaS topics. After my time at the support desk, I received a great job offer to start my next chapter in Consulting. At this time, I have been working for many customers and also on internal projects in many technical areas. The most impressive one was an automation project moving a customer to IPv6. My job was the software development for complex IP calculations and segmentations for complete locations and the whole network infrastructure. After my software development career, I decided to relocate to Ingolstadt, and in the same step, I went into a whole different part of IT to learn something completely new. I joined a third-level support desk and have been working for Audi with a focus on problem and escalation management.After a short time frame, I started to create automation scripts to handle all of the regular tickets with the same problems. Shortly after this, I was entitled to the technical lead of the support desk, and all the escalation tickets and the creation of ITIL-conform 'problems' were delegated to me. We created an automation tool to easily handle all scripts, documents, and information for every employee. Afterward, I continued the same work under the sub-company of HST. In my software developer apprenticeship, I started directly with my own projects. I needed to set up the complete project management and calculate the estimated developing times.
