Program Managers don't win popularity contests. Instead, this role demands the ability to influence, facilitate challenging circumstances and drive people towards the key business drivers.So where is the finish line for a Program Manager? Is there truly a finish line or are we always looking to optimize? Each iteration might be a small victory, but continuous optimizing is key to being successful in my view. Hitting the grand slam home run is not on my agenda.Where does the Program Manager show value in a DevOps world? I focus on reading, tracking and adapting on how the team is meeting "full stack" expectation. I continually re-calibrate through the sprints or iterations, pushing the team while supporting realistic goals. I believe it is critical to support the team by identifying the gaps and campaigning to resolve them within the team or on their behalf. Today, I can say I have learned a great deal about driving programs and products. I believe as business strategies change in the online space, methodologies(devops/automation) along with mindsets are triggering new approaches. I continue to look forward down the career path, building new skills to support DevOps, automation, cloud and agile approaches.
