This role recommends and administers various company safety and fire protection policies and programs. Identifies potential safety, health, workers compensation and fire protection prevention risks and implements corrective measures. Monitors and evaluates workplace to ensure compliance with all OSHA and company regulations. Performs safety and fire protection inspections/audits and monitors work practices to ensure employees are performing jobs in compliance with regulatory and company safety policies and programs. Performs periodic tests on fire systems and equipment to ensure compliance with technical specifications. Develops, implements and conducts safety and fire protection training and presentations. Administers public safety programs for external contractors.

Perform work associated with the operation of various plant equipment. Locally, start up, operate, inspect and shut down primary radwaste and secondary plant systems and associated/related components. Assist with scheduled, operational tests on protective devices and safety systems, filter pre-coating operations; clean water strainers, oil strainers and condensers and change cartridge filters. Read meters, gauges, thermometers and instruments on auxiliary equipment; make adjustments to obtain efficient operations; and record readings as required. Inspect outdoor transformer equipment, including deluge system, service switchgear and operating M-G sets and rectifiers; report abnormal conditions to the Control Room. Participate in self-assessments and prompt adequate resolution of identified department issues. Perform duties as a Site Fire Brigade leader and Emergency Medical Technician Responder as needed. Responsibilities also include receiving, informing, and giving information in a timely manner related to issues such as safe work practices, work schedules or delays, wasted resources, errors not readily apparent or easy to detect, and non-compliance to procedures, and work processes or procedures that could improve performance or reduce costs.
