Advised senior Treasury Department officials on housing and community development policies including GSE reform, tax credit policy, servicing reform, mortgage credit availability and community stabilization strategies.

Established and led the first funding round of the Capital Magnet Fund (CMF). The CMF, which is part of the Treasury Department's Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) was created for the purpose of promoting economic revitalization and community development through investment in and assistance to community development financial institutions. Through the Capital Magnet Fund (CMF), the CDFI Fund competitively awarded $80 million in 23 grants to CDFIs and qualified nonprofit housing organizations in its 2010 funding round.

Founded startup enterprise Affiniti Strategies, LLC, which provided consulting services on a variety of public policy issues. Affiniti also managed all aspects of Congressional “Fly-Ins”, where clients brought supporters to Washington to advocate on their behalf.

Served in a variety of leadership positions leading Fannie Mae's grassroots network management, regional office management, affordable housing division and the Katrina taskforce.

Served as chief of staff in the government relations office and opened and led the Detroit and Michigan Partnership Offices.

Worked with former White House Spokesman Marlin Fitzwater and State Department Spokeswoman Margaret Tutwiler on client development and management.

Served in a variety of capacities at the US Department of State under the leadership of President George H.W. Bush and Secretary of State James A. Baker III.

Served as legislative assistant for national security issues to Rep. Rod Chandler (R-WA). Specialized in Latin America political issues, particularly in Nicaragua and El Salvador as well as containment of the Soviet Union and arms control.

Covered and photographed the war in Afghanistan, the assassination of Indira Gandhi, rebel movements in Latin America, international trade policy, the war on drugs, and a variety of domestic issues for the Detroit News, the Ann Arbor News, and Inside US Trade.
