My research activity at University of Liverpool is focused on multiferroics thin films synthesis by Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) growth technique (supported by in-situ RHEED monitoring system) and characterization by X-ray reflectivity and diffraction and resistivity transport measurements.My postdoctoral research fellowship at the EPFL has been focused on synthesis and characterization of complex materials, in particular of layered HTcS and Ionic Liquid Electric Field Gating.One of the main results of my PhD thesis work has been the discovery of superconductivity in a new artificial heterostructure CaCuO2/SrTiO3. I have been Principal Investigator of the "SEED"​ Project "Charge transfer mechanism in superconducting CaCuO2/SrTiO3 superlattices", managing and performing the synthesis and characterization of thin films samples, at the CNR institute SPIN (“SuPerconductors, oxides and other INnovative materials and devices”).I spent one year as visiting PhD student at Beamline 7 of the Advanced Light Source (ALS) of Lawerence Berkeley National Laboratories (CA) - USA, performing ARPES experiments on in-situ PLD grown thin films of iron chalcogenides superconductors, functional complex oxides and graphene.I work on a theoretical model studying the properties of multiband high temperature superconductors made of superlattice heterostructures.I am author of more than 20 scientific publications on international journals with high impact-factor (such as Nature and Physical Review) and more than 600 citations.
