Until COVID-19 stopped worldwide Tourism industry I had the chance to cooperate with Leisure Pass Group, taking marketing actions in Italy as their only Representative Agent.I truly enjoyed giving webinars, attending fairs, meeting Tour Operators and Travel Agents around Italy.

In the second 15 years of my career (from 2002 up to 2017) in Gioco Viaggi (cruise operator, leader in the cruise business in Italy) I’ve been Product Manager, building Packages for cruise clientele. Very unique services with pre & post, assistance, flights. The PM is in contact with suppliers, both land and flight, and tells to the booking ofc the details of each single package in order to book properly and quickly.I also was a reference to the Sales people, showing them the right information and plus of our Products.In this Company, being average size, I also had other duties, such as internal departments organization, reloations with software suppliers, web-booking tools setting and organization.I’ve also been involved in Marketing actions, both in Italy and abroad.In these years I attended many trade shows, among which some Pow Wow in the US

When I came back from Los Angeles I started in the Group Dept. for some months, and I then became Product Manager, working in a team. Volumes were quite high, so we split duties. I kept contacts mainly with overseas suppliers. I was therefore involved in the Product 100%, with frequent trips abroad (mainly U.S.A.) and I was the referent for the booking offices.Destinations I’ve been involved in as PM: USA, Caribbean (I started this Program for the Company), U.K. and The Netherlands.In this period I did many presentations to both Travel Agents and also booking ofc colleagues around the Country. I attended several trade shows among which some Pow Wows in the U.S.

In L.A. I learned a lot, working “on the other side” of the tourism chain, c/o the inbound receptive t.o.I mainly learned how to deal with local suppliers, how to handle critical situations, in order to have travellers happy and problems-free. I was employed in both FIT and Groups Dept.To round up a bit, in the week-ends I became a Los Angeles City Guide, for Italian groups. This experience helped me a lot to understand travellers needs “in the ground”.I also escorted some groups around the U.S.

I started this profession in the second half of the ‘80s, when tourism in Italy was booming.Gastaldi Tours was a leader Tour Operator for many destinations, and certainly the leader for the U.S.A.Here is where I learned the basics of this job, thanks to an incomparable (at least in the tourism business in Italy) Company’s organization and to a great equipe.I started with the Documentation, to move to FIT and Groups booking.I also did some Marketing and promotional activities.I fell in love with the “Destination USA” and I was able, eventually, to move there for a work (and life) experience.
