I am currently a PhD student at the University of L’Aquila, and my research activity is focused on various topics of macroecology and biodiversity conservation. Most of my studies are based on the use of ecological modeling for assessing biodiversity-related questions.I started my studies with a degree in biology, with a thesis in zoology on an updated assessment of the spectacled salamanders (the northern and southern species), an Italian endemism. Then, I continued with a master’s degree in environmental biology (LM-6), with a thesis in Biogeography and Conservation, where I used species distribution models (SDMs) to investigate the potential range shifts of some target species at the European scale. My PhD project deals with the use of ecological modeling tools to assess the spatiotemporal range shifts of some target species of conservation concern in Europe. My topics span from SDMs, connectivity models, individual-based models (IBMs) and other techniques. Most of my studies are focused on vertebrates, especially large carnivores, such as the Eurasian lynx, but I am more interested in pattern and processes than in a specific taxa. During my experience I learned to manage large datasets, analyzed mostly in statistical environments such as R Studio and Julia. Furthermore, I have a deep knowledge of geoinformatics tools, such as ArcGIS and QGIS. Previously, I worked as a fixed-term researcher in experimental medicine, in the fields of cell biology and oncology, through the use of mesenchymal stem cells extracted from human dental pulp (hDPSC), and using different tumor cell lines (as U87 and U251). The aims of the research activity were spanning from regenerative medicine to the development of treatments and therapies against certain types of tumors, to the study of the characteristics and possible applications of stem cells in the therapeutic field.My curiosity and my interests in different research fields are the glue that hold together my different career paths so far.Furthermore, I am passionate about scientific divulgation to which I contribute with my work as an author for Different, an important cultural social website.Ambition, curiosity, work and talent are the keywords that I always keep in mind.
