Research and Innovation Engineer of Deep Digital Tecnologies Leonardo Labs at Innovation Management group in Torino on the topic of Digital Factory..The Research Unit actively focuses on the concept of the Digital Factory and on the digitalization of processes, with the aim of further optimizing and simplifying industrial production and operations. By implementing these approaches, the massive amount of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from disparate sources can be seamlessly integrated and managed in real time. The overall goal is to develop sophisticated data analytics systems through Artificial Intelligence algorithms based on the capabilities of High Performance Computing and the Cloud platform to support business transformation processes, real time decision-making, efficient logistics, predictive maintenance applications, and the smooth running of digitally transformed manufacturing processes. Moreover, startup scouting activities in the field of Open Innovation, evaluating and interacting with several startups with the aim of selecting and promoting the adoption of advanced technologies and accelerating digital transformation processes.

Section A - Industry

A management framework for smart manufacturing applications in Industry 4.0My research focuses on developing a microservices monitoring framework through cloud computing that allows to collect, manage and analyze data provided by different sources (IoT devices, industrial machines, databases, users, etc.) even if scattered around the world. Furthermore, I developed and integrated several AI and ML algorithms as platform services to discover hidden relationships between data and provide insights in order to improve the processes.

Collection, analysis and processing of heterogeneous data from externally provided databases, through machine learning algorithms for Industry 4.0 and Additive Manufacturing.

Title: Vibration compensation for robotic manipulators by iterative learning controlDescription: The elasticity of the mechanical joints used in industrial manipulators induces unwanted vibrations in the structure with consequent errors in positioning during machining operations. The proposed thesis work is aimed at analyzing and improving the performance of the manipulator in repetitive applications in which positioning accuracy is particularly important using Iterative Learning Control (ILC). Software: Matlab, Simulink.

Title: IoT for Smart Environment Control (SEC)Description: The proposed IoT platform aims at making smart the rooms of an office, a factory or a home. It integrates different IoT devices for managing appliances in the environments. It provides control strategies for lighting and heating systems to minimize the energy waste, it gives the number of people in the room, high comfort to the end users.The overall platform provides unified interfaces (through both REST and MQTT) to integrate the room into Smart Building or Smart Factory environments. Hence, Demand/Response policies can be applied.Finally, the platform provides end users with detailed knowledge of the room consumption, temperature, humidity, light and occupancy for each appliance. Title: Realization of a small programmable and configurable modular robot.Description: The project involves the creation of a small programmable and configurable modular robot that can: perform different actions (movements, sound or light indications etc.) based on the input, monitor some environmental parameters using basic sensors and possibly distributed in the surrounding environment with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity.
