During the past two-plus years, Generative AI has been my obsession. Specifically, its disruption of how people discover brands, companies, and the solutions to their problems. I have been creating AI bots to streamline my work, supercharge my understanding, and increase the depths of insights I can learn on behalf of myself and my clients.Generative AI is the most profound technology that has improved at the most rapid pace of any innovation in my lifetime. As William Gibson once observed: The future is already here; it's just unevenly distributed.I build audiences. I do that through equal parts content and technology.I started my career by devouring Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke science fiction novels as a twelve-year old.I didn’t realize it at the time but my love of science fiction trained me to imagine possibilities. It allowed me to extend the present into the future. It helped me to glimpse what was just beyond the horizon. There’s no better training for anticipating trends.My love of reading expanded to Ray Bradbury and Kurt Vonnegut and George Orwell and eventually a BA in English. Literature gave me the skills that have served me well to date:- Critical analysis,- Empathy,- Storytelling, and- Creative writing.Early stops at a newspaper, a market research firm, and a national retailer acclimated me to journalism, consumer insights and commercial promotions. My career parallelled the rise of the internet by starting a digital marketing agency in 1996. Along the way, I mastered: - Website design & development,- Email marketing, - Content development,- Search engine marketing,- Digital advertising,- Social media marketing,- Video & audio marketing, - Artificial IntelligenceI know how the plumbing of the Internet works, how all channels work together and affect one another. I’ve always developed integrated communication plans that connect traditional communications and close the loop by capturing behavior online. Because why wouldn't you close that loop?I start with your objectives, then:- Identify who needs to be understood to achieve those objectives, - Identify and define those audiences, - Develop a strategy for reaching them, - Secure their attention, - Prompt them to act, - Converting them into relationships, and-Turning them into advocates.Digital strategy is my sweet spot, leveraging and harmonizing all communication efforts.
