About David Favy
I acquired a strong expertise in DNA-based technologies during the PhD. I did in a cancer research institute molecular biology lab. Afterwards, I’d the opportunity to develop this expertise in a commercial environment with field application specialist role at Applied Biosystems where I did application support for academic and private research organisations. I went on my career in the more regulated environment of the Applied Markets by supporting DNA based solutions dedicated to food and pharma/biopharma industry quality control. In parallel, I strengthened my knowledge of normalisation and validation by becoming an expert within a working group of the french normalisation organisation, AFNOR. In 2010, I joined ABBOTT/ibis Biosciences as It launched PLEX, a new technology which combines PCR and mass spectrometry. PLEX-ID is dedicated to rapid microbial identification for clinical diagnostic and industrial microbial QC. My first role was Molecular Application Scientist for France/Switzerland, supporting PLEX-ID implementations in several hospital microbiology labs then South Europe Key Account Manager.From 2015, I joined Biocartis NV, an international company based in Belgium.Biocartis has developed the Idylla™️ System, à “sample-in result-out” solution dedicated to detection of oncogenes mutations/genetic alterations, directly from tumor biopsies and plasma in some hours.
