David Day is one of the Indo-Pacific’s senior international lawyers, with special emphasis on the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, & Southeast Asia. He is based in Hawaii. During the past few years, David has been engaged in developing & conducting capacity-building programs on national or economic security, deal-structuring, and international negotiations in several Asian countries and at home, in the U.S. He has served as the Chairman of the Belt & Road Task Force for the American Bar Association's International Section. He is also the immediate former Chairman of the Trade Policy Committee of the U.S. National Association of District Export Councils. In recent months, David has led a number of programs, speeches and detailed briefings on cognitive warfare, malign political warfare, non-kinetic warfare, economic warfare, China’s Belt & Road Initiative, current U.S. Trade Policy, counterterrorism, and countering radical Islam in Southeast Asia. These briefings have been before Asian Cabinet-level Ministers, think tanks, national defense institutions, senior military cohorts, and diplomatic teams at Asian Embassies along with private sector business groups and conferences in both the U.S and Asia.Commencing during the early years of his career and continuing, David developed significant business and personal relationships in the Philippines that have deepened and expanded, enabling him to lead a variety of private sector projects along with number of sensitive NGO programs and trainings for Philippine Government Departments, Agencies, including the Armed Forces, Coast Guard, and Diplomats. As a private citizen, David was instrumental in the brokering and creation of the first public discussions on economic normalization which ultimately led to the initial draft of the Bilateral Trade Agreement between the U.S. & Vietnam.As the Chairman of the Trade Policy Committee of the National Association of District Export Councils (there are some private sector 60 District Export Councils engaged with 1000’s of U.S. companies around the country) and a member of its National Board, David has been engaged in the coordination of global trade issues between the small business private sector, new trade legislation on Capitol Hill along with the trade-related Federal agencies of USTR, Commerce, EXIM Bank, SBA, DFC and others.Legal Specialties: International Dispute Resolution, Mediator & Arbitrator, Commercial Litigation and Business Practice with special emphasis on cross-border transactions and business startups/development with the entrepreneurial client.
